What is the Moebius Deck of Wonders?
The Moebius Deck of Wonders is designed to be a prop and handout for your favorite tabletop role-playing game. As the Game Master, you control how and when the Moebius Deck of Wonders presents itself to your players. It can be found as part of a great treasure hoard, discovered in an ancient, burial crypt, given to them by a mysterious sage, or simply found lying around waiting to be discovered.
The Moebius Deck of Wonders appears as a standard deck of cards, but once touched it will reveal its true form and strongly compel the character that touched it to choose a random card. This is where you, the Game Master, will present the deck and hand it to your player. They will then randomly choose a single card which instantly reveals its powers to them and becomes bound to their character for life. Your player will then have a handout that they can keep with their character as a visual reference and to interact with during card activation phases.

Why don’t the cards have any descriptions or writing on them?
While system-agnostic rules will be provided for each card in the deck, the cards were designed devoid of any writing or text so, as the Game Master, you can choose to create or modify the existing rules and/or create names and lore for each card to fit your world. You can even just use the cards as visual references to represent physical magic items the characters find. In fact, the items don’t have to magical at all.

What kind of games can I use these cards with?
Although these cards were designed to fit perfectly into any fantasy or steampunk- themed game, they can easily be adapted and used in modern or futuristic games as ancient or historic artifacts or even alien technology. The use of the Moebius Deck of Wonders is only limited by your imagination.

How is this deck unique to other magic item decks?
The Moebius Deck of Wonders has a mind of it’s own, separate in part to the cards themselves. When Moebius Spinn created the deck, he imparted a bit of his own intelligence and wisdom into it. Along with these abilities, it can teleport itself without error to any world, plane, or place in time.
For instance, the deck may place itself as part of a treasure hoard at the end of an epic quest, or it may feel the need to appear in a key moment within a quest in hopes of aiding the heroes about to face a particularly tough foe. While other times it may present itself to the common-folk, hoping to give a lad or lass an edge in a life fraught with peril and misfortune, inspiring them to strike out and make a new life for themselves as an adventurer.
In life, Moebius Spinn was a great champion against many radical evil forces. Because of this, the Moebius Deck of Wonders would never willingly put itself in the hands of an evil creature. However, being that this is your game, you can place the deck wherever you see fit.

How can I use the deck in my game?
[Please see our video on Gameplay in the Kickstarter main page.]
When the deck is found, it presents itself as a normal deck of playing cards, and actively resists any attempt to discern if it is magical or not. The moment the deck is picked up, it alters its appearance to its true form and strongly compels the character to draw a single card. The character may actively try and resist, and if successful, the deck simply vanishes and teleports itself to a new location chosen by the Game Master. If they fail, a single random card is drawn from the deck, and is bound to the character for life. The deck then teleports away once more for another worthy adventurer to find it. The deck will never allow more than one card to be chosen at a time. Any attempt to do so will cause the deck to teleport away.
Once the card is chosen, the card owner immediately knows what the card does and how to activate it. Only the creature that the card is bound to may activate it. Unless otherwise noted, the card need only be on the character’s person to activate.
Additionally, the card owner may choose to associate a single word or phrase as part of the activation process. In this way, the card can’t be activated accidentally by the owner. The activation keyword only needs to be spoken in the characters own mind to work. The keyword may be changed by the card owner up to once per 24 hours.

Can the cards be destroyed?
[The actual deck] Well, yes. Even though physical copy of the Moebius Deck of Wonders will be of high quality, with a weight of 350 grams, they can be destroyed in the same manner as any other deck of cards.
[In play] The cards are immune to water, fire, and acid damage, and highly resistant to tearing. However, they are not completely immune to being destroyed. If destroyed, the card will permanently be removed from the Moebius Deck of Wonders in that world. If lost or stolen, the cards will automatically return to the owner’s hand with a mental command.

How long does the chosen card stay with the player?
As mentioned the cards are bound to its owner for life. There are five ways this bond can be severed.
The number of limited uses has been exhausted. Only some cards function in this way. In this case, the card magically teleports itself back to the deck to be recharged and made available to the next lucky adventurer should it be found again. The card has been dispelled or the magical link between the card and the owner has been broken in some way. Very powerful magic keeps that bond intact, so likewise, it would take very powerful magic to break that bond. The owner willfully chooses to send the card back to the Moebius Deck of Wonders. Once forfeited, that card will never bond with that character again. The owner willfully gives up his bond with the designated card and passes it on to another of their choosing. This can only be done once per month. Once passed on, the card will never bond with that character again. The owner of the card dies and the card returns itself back to the Moebius Deck of Wonders. If the owner and their bonded card ever get separated via dimensional space, being in two different planes of existence, or separated by time travel, the magical bond between them will be in a suspended state. In this state, the owner cannot call the card back to them, nor make use of its power. This temporary state will last up to one month. If the card and the owner have not been reunited before the time expires, the card will sever the bond and return back to the deck.

Can I use the cards in a different way?
We have purposely designed these cards without any names or rules printed on them. This gives Game Master’s ultimate control in their use in their games. Instead of using the cards as we have written them, you can choose to use them as actual physical items in your games. In fact, they don’t need to be magical at all. They could just be interesting items that the characters find in your world, or key items linked to critical story plots.

Right now, you have the option of manually adding the additional funds for the desired items to your pledge now (any additional charges for shipping, if applicable, will automatically be added) or you can just pay for the add-on’s in the pledge manager survey that will be sent to you after our Kickstarter closes.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
